Boracay: Paradise On Earth

Situated in the middle of the archipelago, Boracay commands to be on top of the list for the top vacation destination in the Philippines. What makes Boracay synonymous to paradise?

Obviously, the first reason is its stunning beauty. Included in the top 10 beach destinations in the world in 2007, Boracay is known for its sand — a long stretch of powdery fine, white sand that accents the turquoise beach water — and its famous sunrise and sunsets. One cannot forget the magnificence of this tiny island.

With over 200 resorts along its 30 beaches, this Eden receives over 300,000 tourists annually. Its unspoiled beauty is due largely to the light touch of modern civilization. Isolated geographically, Boracay is separated by a narrow straight from Panay Island. Although the island can be accessed by both air and sea, the final 30-minute leg is being serviced by motorized “bancas” dedicated to transporting tourists and natives alike to and fro the island.

The second reason is the people. Filipinos cannot but help themselves being hospitable. This is true to even the educated ones not living on the island. The cultural legacy of Filipinos to be kind to strangers can still be felt strongly in this island.

Every tourist can expect any form of help –  from finding their way to grand resorts that littered this 630-hectare paradise to the humble abode of the natives. Yes, Filipinos would heartily welcome any stranger that may come their way to the extent of allowing them to sleep in their matrimonial beds. Anybody can feel the genuine joy of Filipinos in dealing with anyone. One cannot but feel at home in this island and more.

The third reason is that the island is also good for the body. All kinds of food are guaranteed fresh. The island being a former fishing village, one will not miss the aroma of all kinds of grilled fish and meat anytime of the day especially during the morning. Natives in this area of the country are fish eaters but there’s no shortage for fruits as well.

Foreign food are also served in almost all cafes and resorts so it is no wonder if you will gain a few pounds after staying for even just a couple of days. For the more energetic breed, there are just countless forms of exercise littering the beach ranging from a pointless stroll in the morning to a night of partying and dancing.

If your interest lies in exploring the deep and checking on nature’s underwater delights, the island is rich in marine wealth and the coral reefs around it are preserved. For the lazy kinds, spending time outside will give one a healthy exposure of a sun soaked day — a real paradise for sun-worshippers.

Boracay, stamped in the minds of many that have trodden its pristine shores, will always be the perfect image of paradise. If one plans to visit the country, your vacation package to the Philippines will never be complete if you will fail to savor the heavenly shores of this unique island.
