Honda Bay

Idyllic beaches, thousands of kilometers of unexplored stretch of white sand, thousands of square miles of unexplored coral reef formations, blue-clear water — you name them and Palawan has them all. This huge chunk of paradise in the southeast part of the Philippine archipelago offers such variety of vistas and seascapes that it is considered one of its kinds in the world.

Being the biggest province in the country, any tourist, whether local or foreign, will find out that a month of full exploration will never be enough. National Geographic Magazine November -December 2007 issue selected this province as one of the excellent beach destination in the world. Needless to say, Palawan should top the list in one of the many Philippine vacation packages.

El Nido and its clusters of Islands

Located in the northern tip of the province, this spot is known for its first class resorts and unique island and islet formations. This marine reserve is also noted for its popular Bird’s Nest Soup, an expensive and rare edible bird’s nest harvested from limestone outcroppings and cliff found only in this group of islands.

Honda Bay

Any tourist who longs for underwater marvels should go to this fish sanctuary. This area is home to rare and colorful aquatic organisms and fish. One can either go snorkeling or enjoy the deep by diving. And its shores are dotted by multiple world class resorts always ready to welcome any exhilarated tourist. This spot is only 30 minutes away from the provincial capital Puerto Princesa.

Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park

This awesome formation of coral reefs is a UNESCO World Heritage Site honoree due to its distinct beauty. Covering 33,200 hectares, it is composed of 2 atolls that are home to many endangered species of turtles and birds in this part of the world.

St. Paul Subterranean National Park

Palawan is also an island that holds numerous historical caves and natural tunnels carved for millions of years. This particular site showcases networks of underwater caves and rivers. Awesome formation of stalactites and stalagmites are but some of the common sights that will be encountered in this underground getaway. Colorful stones and huge rock chambers are excellent displays of natural beauty. Together with the Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park this destination were nominated among the “New 7 Wonders of Nature”.

These and countless other sights like the exotic animal species organic only on this island as the Palawan Parrots, Palawan Monkeys, Scaly Ant Eater, Palawan Peacock, Mongoose, Bear cats, mouse deer, and Porcupine are but some of the package that awaits tourists in this majestic island. Palawan is considered the Philippine’s last frontier obviously because of those panoramic views and attractions.

Palawan can be reached by air and ferry. There are daily flights from Manila and vice versa.
